UVM men’s soccer team returns to Vermont, parade planned for January

Welcome back Catamounts! The University of Vermont men’s soccer team have returned to the Green Mountain state as NCAA Division I champions – a historic moment for the college.

Celebrations were underway today, with the team receiving a warm but uproarious welcome at Roy L. Patrick Gymnasium by fans and city leaders alike. Sen. Patrick Leahy was in attendance, along with interim UVM President Patricia Prelock.

Brief speeches were given by Director of Athletics Jeff Schulman and Coach Rob Dow, who noted the importance of a big win like this taking place in Vermont. Schulman noted that the team was fighting its way up the ranks in the middle of finals week, another hurdle that they managed to overcome.

The celebration will continue until Dec. 18, where the team will be welcomed at the 7 p.m. UVM men’s basketball game. A parade is in the works for January when students will be back from winter break.

Bring your warmest welcomes to the University of Vermont men’s soccer team over these next few weeks of celebration as they bring the NCAA Division I title back to Vermont. Stay tuned for a date on a parade planned for January when all Catamount fans can join in on the celebration.
