Barcelona possible lineup against Atlético Madrid in LaLiga

Not many changes are expected for Saturday’s LaLiga match against Atlético de Madrid (3pm ET) at Montjuïc compared to the loss against Leganés.

The only confirmed change is the enforced absence of Lamine Yamal due to injury, with Pau Cubarsí returning to defence in place of Eric García.

Three players are vying to replace the young forward, with Ferran Torres emerging as the leading candidate due to his recent scoring streak and positional suitability.

Who will play for FC Barcelona against Atlético Madrid?

However, alternatives like Gavi or even Fermín could also step into the role, depending on tactical considerations and their positioning relative to Dani Olmo.

The rest of the starting lineup is unlikely to see significant changes. Iñaki Peña will remain in goal, while Pau Cubarsí is set to partner Íñigo Martínez in central defense, taking over from Eric García, who struggled with inconsistency against Leganés.

The full-back positions will remain unchanged, with Jules Koundé and Alejandro Balde expected to start.

In midfield, the trio of Pedri, Marc Casadó, and Dani Olmo will likely be maintained. Pedri will continue as the creative engine, with Casadó anchoring the defensive pivot, and Olmo providing a complementary attacking option. Depending on how the final lineup shapes up, Olmo could shift further forward if Gavi or Fermín are integrated into the midfield.

If coach Hansi Flick opts for minimal rotation, Ferran Torres appears the most likely candidate to fill Yamal’s spot on the right wing. He would join Robert Lewandowski, the league’s top scorer with 16 goals despite his misstep against Leganés, and Raphinha, who is currently in stellar form and remains a key leader for the Blaugrana.
