Arsenal was good value for its 3-0 win over Monaco, but Gabriel Jesus did little to silence the doubters at the Emirates.
That’s more like it, right? Arsenal, off the back of a dominant first half that should have seen Mikel Arteta’s side free and clear, managed a 3-0 over Monaco in the Champions League to give their hopes of qualifying for the round of 16 a big boost.
A Bukayo Saka double (because, of course, right?) and a Kai Havertz tap-in secured the win for Arteta’s side in a game where the Gunners didn’t have an issue creating chances from open play, but they did have issues finishing them.
But nevertheless, the Gunners, after weathering a Monaco storm in the second half, managed to put the result beyond doubt with 12 minutes remaining.
Here are three takeaways from what was a superb night at the Emirates.
On another night, the Brazilian has a first-half hat-trick and this isn’t even a conversation.
But Jesus in the first half had two brilliant chances when one-on-one with the keeper within minutes of each other and failed to score on either occasion.
Arteta said midweek there’s no chance of selling the Brazilian, but he must be getting low on chances by now because we aren’t sure how much longer this can go on.
