Load management is such a hot topic of debate across the NBA. There are benefits for players to gain from taking an occasional game off when they’re healthy enough to play, but many are against it, saying it hurts a player’s team, cheats fans and could even come off as self-entitled.
These criticisms are expressed even more when the topic of load management comes up for LeBron James. James has shot down the notion of sitting out games for rest in the past, but he missed two Los Angeles Lakers games on Dec. 8 versus the Portland Trail Blazers and this past Friday against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Both times, he had a left foot ailment, and perhaps he could’ve played if he wanted to push it or if it were postseason time.
