It was a close matchup but probably not as thrilling as people expected, yet still the Los Angeles Rams will take it as they beat the San Francisco 49ers with a final score of 12-6 on Thursday night as neither team managed to cross the end zone for a touchdown.
The spotlight shone brightly on Rams’ kicker Joshua Karty, whose precision under pressure led to the team’s victory. Karty successfully nailed four field goals throughout the game, with distances of 23 yards, 27 yards, and two crucial kicks in the fourth quarter. His consistent performance provided all the points the Rams needed to secure the win.
With that said, the lack of offense was notable as only in the first half fans all over the world saw 11 punts in a game that many believed could have been high scoring with plenty of touchdowns. Instead, they had to settle for a field goal battle.

Rams control their own destiny
After the win in Santa Clara, the Rams have an 8-6 record and with that said, they control their own destiny for the rest of the season even after the Seattle Seahawks are at 8-5 and will play this weekend.
Los Angeles will play the disappointing New York Jets next but then they’ll face the Arizona Cardinals and finish the season with the Seahawks, so if they win out they would be in the playoffs by winning the NFC West.
The Rams now have a 50% chance of making the playoffs and with a Seahawks loss on Sunday, LA would be the favorite to win the West, while the 49ers have the most losses in a season since going 6-10 in 2020.
