See which former Iowa State football players shined in Week 16 of NFL

Week 16 of the 2024 NFL season is in the books, and several former Iowa State football players had huge hands in their teams’ performances.

The collection of ex-Cyclones in the NFL continues to grow, with several more added to rosters this season after having around a dozen consistently active last season. While the star-studded names like Brock Purdy and Breece Hall continue to stand out week after week, several others Iowa State fans will recognize are making significant impacts at the pro level too.

With that, here are a few ex-Cyclones who stood out in Week 16 of the NFL season.

Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers QB

Although Purdy and the 49ers were eliminated from playoff contention Sunday, that didn’t stop the former Iowa State quarterback from still delivering a solid stat line.

In the 49ers’ 29-17 loss to the Miami Dolphins, Purdy finished 26-for-40 passing for 313 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Purdy also was San Francisco’s leading rusher with four carries for 26 yards.

This hasn’t been the year anyone in San Francisco wanted, sitting at 6-9 with no postseason plans. Still, the faith in Purdy moving forward is there.

Breece Hall, New York Jets RB

In Sunday’s 19-9 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, the former Iowa State running back finished with 14 carries for 52 yards to go with five catches for 38 yards.

Hall has still managed a productive year despite the Jets’ woes. He’ll look to close out the season strong with games remaining against the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins.

Allen Lazard, New York Jets WR

Lazard finished with two catches for 20 yards on five targets in Sunday’s 19-9 home loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

With this season marred by injury, Sunday marked the first time the former Iowa State wide receiver had multiple catches in a game since Oct. 20 vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers. On the year, Lazard has 33 receptions for 450 yards and five touchdowns over 10 games.
