Thierry Henry loves ‘magnificent’ move Amad Diallo did before scoring for Man Utd vs Man City

We are still recovering from Sunday’s incredible Manchester derby triumph for Manchester United, in which Amad Diallo stood out.

The Manchester derby is as big a stage as there is in the Premier League and on Sunday the stage belonged to Amad Diallo.

In a game that lacked quality, Manchester United’s resident magician flashed genius in the two deciding moments.

Gary Neville lauded Amad’s smart play and labelled the ‘shining light’ for Ruben Amorim’s side – the ‘best player by an absolute street’.

Meanwhile, Roy Keane heralded the Ivorian as the biggest winner under Amorim so far.

Jamie Carragher and Thierry Henry rave over Amad Diallo

On Monday night, Amad was still the talk of the town as Jamie Carragher and Thierry Henry broke down his goal on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football

“That is magnificent”, Henry began when analysing the goal. “He does something very important. When that ball falls over his head, if he looks at the ball he will never get it. He looks at the ball but then looks at where the ball is going to bounce. That is the only way he can get it.”

Carragher was also full of praise for the touch Amad pulled off, as he poorly attempted to mimic it in the studio.

“He is in mid-air there. To control that with the tip of the boot when actually in mid-air. This is one of the best pieces of skill you’ll see this season. To make the run, follow the ball and then control the ball and round the goalkeeper. Sensational.”

“It is great”, Henry remarked.

Carragher then lauded the actual finish.

“The eye contact, the stillness waiting for the ball to come down in a pressure moment, last minute of a derby game…”

Ruben Amorim is showing Erik ten Hag’s failures in the spotlight

Since Amorim arrived, Amad has been a regular starter and has repaid his head coach’s faith with four assists and one goal – all in the Premier League.

Amad exploding into world-class form is hardly a shock, as fans were always convinced he was capable, but it proves just how poor Erik ten Hag’s decision-making was at the club.

Ten Hag’s worst call to start Mazraoui over Amad against Fenerbahce looks even worse than it did at the time as right now Amad is leading the team.

Omari Forson being chosen over Amad was another example of an awful decision which saw the 22-year-old overlooked.

Ten Hag failing to utilise Amad will be something he will be ruing while sat mulling over his next move in football.

While Amad becomes the star we always knew he had the potential to be.
